“Five Songs” is a series where we ask former and current college radio DJs to give us a list of five songs that they feel best represents the chosen topic. For this playlist, Norman Prusslin, founding General Manager of WUSB at Stony Brook University, chooses five songs that remind him of his first ever DJ shift. More from Norm:
I grew up listening to the radio. First, Yankee baseball games and then starting in the early ‘60s the AM Top Forty NYC powerhouse stations . Then starting in 1966/67, the first progressive rock FM’s like WOR-FM, WNEW-FM and WABC-FM. Non comm Pacifica’s WBAI-FM was always on .Before arriving at Stony Brook as a first year student in September 1969, I was pretty versed in music. Saw live in concert The Beatles, Stones, Dylan, The Who, Hendrix, Joplin , The Who and so many more. It was the foundation of so much what I do today.
